Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or case number entered in a displayed search tool is sent to the provider operating that tool. The provider processes the query under its own terms. Avery County Court Docket does not keep a separate log of those search terms.
Messages and Contact Submissions
Email sent to the resource may be retained long enough to respond or maintain the correspondence. It is not sold or routinely disclosed outside the organization, except when a legal duty requires disclosure.
Data We Gather Automatically
Like most web services, a visit can generate technical information such as:
- The IP address assigned to your device
- Which browser you are using and its version
- Your device type and operating system
- The pages you visited and how long you stayed on each
- The site that sent you here, if any
- Timestamps for each page view
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small browser files that can help measure aggregate use, such as frequently read pages and general navigation paths. Analytics providers may help summarize that traffic. Browser controls can block cookies, though some site behavior may change as a result.
What We Do With This Data
- Operating, securing, and improving the resource
- Passing a submitted search to its selected partner service
- Understanding aggregate page use and technical faults
- Maintaining content and service performance
- Supporting advertising that may be interest-based
No Court-Record Data on File
This resource does not host, compile, maintain, or sell a database of Avery County case files or court dockets. It identifies official routes such as the Avery County Clerk of Superior Court and the North Carolina eCourts Portal. It is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor information is not assembled into consumer reports about other people.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes shown here. Information submitted to one of those tools is governed by that company’s privacy policy, retention practices, and sharing rules. Review the provider’s terms before supplying a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links to the Avery Clerk, North Carolina Judicial Branch, Portal, and other resources leave this website. Their own privacy policies apply once a visitor follows a link. Read those policies before sending personal information.
Advertising partners may use their own systems to support interest-based advertisements across websites. That activity is controlled on the partners’ systems.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Limited information can be handled by:
- The search provider chosen for a submitted query
- Analytics vendors that measure traffic and performance
- Advertising networks serving an advertisement
- A government body or law enforcement agency when legally compelled
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable administrative and technical safeguards are used for information under the resource’s control. Internet transmission and storage carry risk, however, and absolute security cannot be promised.
Users Under 18
The resource is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. Contact the operator if a minor’s information was submitted so the request can be reviewed.
Your Data Rights
North Carolina’s public-record rules, including G.S. 132-6, govern access to government public records; they do not convert this private reference resource into a government records custodian. Subject to applicable law, a visitor may ask to:
- Request a copy of personal information held directly by the operator
- Ask for correction of inaccurate contact information
- Request deletion where retention is not required
- Use available browser and provider controls for certain processing choices
